A Civic Space for New Leaders

As we enter a new era in international relations, young leaders face uncertainty in ethical leadership. With concern that values like international cooperation, democracy, pluralism, and humanitarianism are eroding, Carnegie Council is providing a civic space for young leaders to engage with experts in foreign affairs, policy, academia, and research. Our Ethics Empowered: Leadership in Practice series brings together scholars and practitioners to discuss pressing ethical issues, reflect on their careers, and provide guidance to young leaders on the following questions:

  • What happens when our values conflict?
  • How do we navigate tradeoffs while following our true north?
  • How can we bridge ethical theories with application?
  • What is the best way to enhance our ethical reflective thinking?
  • How can we continue to empower ethics in our day-to-day lives?

In addition to the speaker series, Carnegie Council will provide resources from our Ethics & International Affairs journal, articles from our thought leaders, and additional questions for students and faculty to engage with that complements the topics of discussion.
