Alex Urwin

Carnegie Ethics Fellow; UK Prime Minister's Office

Alex Urwin is head of strategic partnerships and projects in the UK prime minister’s office.

This is his second stint in Number 10, having previously worked in the prime minister’s research team. He’s also worked as special advisor to the CEO at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, one of the world’s largest climate and development philanthropies. In addition, Urwin has served as an advisor to the CEO of the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, and as a speechwriter and advisor to the COP26 president.

He has contributed commentary and analysis to the likes of Foreign Policy, Atlantic Council, and Climate Home, as well as curating and participating in podcasts for Aspen UK. Outside of the world of foreign policy, he’s also a published non-fiction author, award-winning playwright, and aspiring screenwriter.

Urwin has degrees from Oxford and Columbia, and he’s also an Aspen UK Rising Leaders Fellow.
