Bio
Ashraf Ghani is the president of Afghanistan, assuming the office in September, 2014.
Ghani was previously Afghanistan's finance minister from 2002 to 2004, the chancellor of Kabul University from 2004 to 2008, and chairman of the Institute for State Effectiveness, which was founded in 2005.
In addition, he was adviser to the United Nations during the Bonn process and the establishment of the first post-Taliban administration in Afghanistan.
