Emily Kilcrease is a recent graduate from the University of Oregon where she received her BS. in political science and a Minor in legal studies in conjunction with the University of Oregon’s law school.
Kilcrease was selected twice to participate as a fellow with the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights, served as a leadership associate with the pilot Emerging Leadership Program through the Holden Leadership Center, and co-founded the University of Oregon Students for Justice and Human Rights Group on campus where she continues to act as their executive advisor post-graduation.
She is currently interviewing with several unions in the greater San Diego area to break into the labor movement as a union representative. As the daughter of two union members in the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Kilcrease credits the support of her parent’s union for her ability to graduate from the university as a first-generation non-traditional student from a low-income family. Having undergone three heart surgeries since 2019, she acknowledges that she would not be where she is today without the union’s generous extension of her insurance coverage as she pursued her educational goals.
