Emily Polk

Emily Polk is lecturer in the program in writing and rhetoric at Stanford University.

Prior to lecturing at Stanford, Polk was senior editor for CSRwire. She worked and lived for nearly ten years around the world as a human rights–focused writer and editor before joining CSRwire in 2007 to manage and grow their newly launched Web 2.0 initiative.

Polk's own writing and radio documentaries have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, the Boston Globe, NPR, AlterNet, the Indian Express, Central America Weekly, the Ghanaian Chronicle, and Whole Earth Magazine, among others.
