Jamal Sowell is a Pat Tillman Military Scholar at Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
Previously, Sowell served as special assistant to the president of the University of Florida from 2011 to 2014. He is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Serving from 2006 to 2011, Sowell was a combat engineer in the reserves, and in active duty he was a platoon commander, and company executive officer at Camp Pendelton, California. He also served as battalion assistant operations and anti-terrorism force protection officer in Afghanistan in 2010.
In addition, Sowell has worked as a graduate assistant in the Amherst College Career Center and a radio host for 101.3 FM in Gainesville, Florida.
