Bio
James ""Chip"" R. Coldren, Jr. is the managing director for justice programs in CNA Corporation's safety and security division.
Coldren previously worked at Governors State University, where he served as director of the office of sponsored programs and research and academic coordinator for the interdisciplinary leadership doctorate program. He also was president of the John Howard Association for Prison Reform for four years. Coldren served in several capacities at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), as director of the Center for Research in Law and Justice and director of the Institute for Public Safety Partnerships. Prior to joining UIC, Coldren served as deputy director with the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods, a research project of the Harvard University School of Public Health. He also served for seven years as director of research for the Justice Research and Statistics Association in Washington, DC.
Coldren began his professional career in Chicago, where he worked for seven years with the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. He went on to become the director of research and computer system development at Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland.
