Bio
John H.F. Shattuck is the CEO of the JFK Library Foundation. His career spans nearly three decades in government service and in the not-for-profit sector. In 1993 he was nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor. While serving in this position, Shattuck worked to end the war in Bosnia, to negotiate the Dayton Peace Accord, and to establish the international criminal tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. In addition, his efforts aided in a democratically elected government to Haiti. For this work he received an International Human Rights Award from the United Nations Association of Boston. He has also served as U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic (1998-2000).
