Joseph H. Carens is professor of political science at the University of Toronto. He is the author of Culture, Citizenship, and Community: A Contextual Exploration of Justice as Evenhandedness (2000), which won the 2002 C. B. Macpherson Prize of the Canadian Political Science Association. He is also the author or editor of three other books, and has published more than sixty papers in journals and edited volumes.
Carens is writing a book on the ethics of immigration. His paper, "The Rights of Irregular Migrants," is the subject of a symposium in Ethics & International Affairs 22, no. 2 (2008).
