Juan Cole is Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan.
Cole has been a member of the University of Michigan faculty since 1984. From 1992 to 1995, he was director of the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies; from 2009 to 2012, he was director of the Center for South Asian Studies; and from 2012 to 2013, he was director of the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies. In 2007, Cole was named Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History.
Cole is on the editorial boards of International Affairs and Political Science Quarterly. He blogs at Informed Comment and is the author of The New Arabs, Engaging the Middle East, Napoleon's Egypt: Invading the Middle East, and many other books. His articles have appeared in a variety of scholarly journals.
