Junko Asano is a Ph.D. candidate in international development at the University of Oxford. Her current research is on the emergence of ""migrant citizenship"" practiced by Indonesian domestic workers in Hong Kong. This research is an extension of her MPhil in development studies from the University of Oxford where she wrote her thesis on Indonesian recruiters of migrant domestic workers.
In addition, Asano is a senior research assistant in public international law at City University of Hong Kong, primarily working on territorial dispute issues regarding Kashmir. She is also the legal editor at the Asian Human Rights Commission, working on human rights cases involving torture in Sri Lanka. She holds a BA (Hons) in economics in ethics, society, & law from the University of Toronto.
