Bio
Lisa Oldring is special advisor to Mary Robinson, chair of the GAVI Fund Board. The mission of the GAVI Alliance, a public-private partnership, is to save children's lives and protect people's health by increasing access to immunization in poor countries. Partners include national governments, UNICEF, WHO, the World Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the vaccine industry, public health institutions, and nongovernmental organizations.
Oldring is currently on secondment from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland, where she served as advisor on human rights and security (2006–2007), and as assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health (2002–2006).
Previously she worked as a human rights officer with the UN Human Rights Field Operation in Rwanda (1995–96), and with the international commissions of inquiry on Darfur (2004) and Lebanon (2006).
Oldring holds degrees in criminology (1992) and law (1995) from the University of Alberta, Canada, and has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1997. She received her Diplome d'Etudes Superieures in international law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva in 1999.
