Richard A. Edlin is vice chair of Greenberg Traurig. He chairs both the Litigation Practice in New York and the Business & Regulatory Financial Services Litigation Group and serves as a member of the firm's executive committee.
Edlin is a trial lawyer with broad experience in both trial and appellate courts including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Delaware Supreme Court. He is currently handling matters for leading financial institutions; intellectual property litigation for major electronics/consumer companies; for leading pharmaceutical companies involved in contract disputes; antitrust investigations; and for individuals involved in various commercial disputes. Edlin is listed in Chambers & Partners USA Guide to Leading Business Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, in New York Super Lawyers, and is the 2020 recipient of the John J. McCloy Award from the Fund for the Modern Courts.
Edlin serves as a commissioner on Chief Judge Janet DeFiore’s Commission for the Reimagining of the New York Courts and chair of the subcommittee on Future Trials, a member of the board of trustees of the Historical Society of the New York Courts, a member of the board of trustees of the Urban Justice Center, a member of the board of directors for Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, a trustee of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, and he was a charter member of the Carnegie Council's Friends Committee.
Edlin received his JD from Columbia Law School and his BA magna cum laude in history from Tufts University.
He was first elected to the Carnegie Council Board in 2011.
