Bio
Tohnain Emmanuel Njong is from Cameroon and migrated to China to teach English. He was arrested for fraud, a crime he says he didn't commit, and was sent to a Chinese slave-labor camp. There he was forced to work 13 hours a day making shopping bags that were exported to the United States.
In 2012, a note that he hid in a Saks Fifth Avenue shopping bag was found by Stephanie Wilson of Social Accountability International. As a result, his story was widely publicized in the Western media, including The New Yorker. Eventually he was released for good behavior, and as of 2014 he was living in Dubai.
