Viktor Mayer-Schönberger

Bio

Viktor Mayer-Schönberger is the professor of Internet governance and regulation at University of Oxford.

A native of Austria, Mayer-Schönberger founded Ikarus Software in 1986, a company focusing on data security, and developed Virus Utilities, which became the best-selling Austrian software product.

In 1998, he joined the faculty of Harvard Kennedy School, where he worked for 10 years. Mayer-Schönberger then spent three years at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore before moving to Oxford.

Mayer-Schönberger has published over 100 articles and book chapters and seven books, including Delete: The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age.
